By the late twentieth century only the center pattern of the former formal garden remained. The oblongs no longer were planted.

Alice also had a smaller garden close to the back of the house.

Side garden

The garden is undergoing extensive rehabilitation between 2002 and 2005. The garden plan calls for extensive replanting throughout the property to recreate Alice Longfellow's historic garden.

In 2003 Alice's pergola was rebuilt on the east property line.
