The archway is a prominent feature of the second-floor back hall.
  • The stairway to the right goes to the third floor, which is only accessible from the back hall.
  • On the left, a half flight of stairs goes down to the window landing and connects with the front hall through a door.
  • The Blue Room and Gold Ring Room are accessed from this landing.

The archway from the 1790s originally enclosed a small room.
  • A small doorway at the left rear (behind the bookcase) connects the original House with the 1790s ell.
  • Alice added a veranda to the back of the house on the second floor, accessed through the door with the shade
