Head of a Breton Peasant Girl was given to Alice Longfellow by her uncle Samuel Longfellow who purchased it in Europe.

Above the fireplace is a black-and-white photograph of Mt. Fujiyama, Japan taken in the late nineteenth or early twentieth century. To the right of the fireplace are a picture of Paderewski and a poem about this musician by Richard Watson Gilder.   

Above the poem is a photograph by pre-Raphaelite artist George F. Watts entitled Hope.
